Olive Oil Granola
Whole rolled oats baked in extra virgin olive oil
Combining olive oil with oats offers a brilliant range of health benefits
This stems from their complementary nutritional profiles.
Enhanced heart health
- Oats are rich in soluble fibre, which helps lower LDL cholesterol
- Extra virgin olive oil is packed with monounsaturated fats, also known to reduce ‘bad’ cholesterol and promote heart health
- Combining them creates a powerful duo for cardiovascular wellness
Increased nutrient absorption
- Some nutrients, like certain vitamins, are fat-soluble, meaning they’re better absorbed when consumed with fat
- Adding olive oil to oats can enhance the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins present in other additions to the oatmeal, or even certain vitamins that are in the oats themselves
Improved satiety
- Both oats and olive oil contribute to a feeling of fullness
- The fibre in oats and the healthy fats in olive oil slow down digestion, helping to regulate blood sugar and prevent cravings
- This can be very helpful for weight management
Antioxidant boost
- Extra virgin olive oil is a rich source of antioxidants which protect cells from damage
- Oats also contain antioxidants
- Therefore the combination increases your antioxidant intake
Enhanced flavour and texture
- Olive oil adds a rich, smooth texture and a subtle, savoury flavour to oatmeal
- This can make a healthy breakfast more enjoyable

There are unique benefits when olive oil is combined with oats
Our tasty toasted Almond and Olive Oil Granola is jam-packed with wholesome and delicious ingredients: whole rolled oats, sunflower seeds, almonds and pumpkin seeds which are baked in olive oil with raw honey or maple syrup for a vegan version.
Combining extra virgin olive oil with oats creates a nutritious and satisfying meal that supports heart health, provides sustained energy and boosts antioxidant intake.
To personalise it why not add your favourite dried fruits and more seeds. We like to eat ours with natural kefir yogurt and fresh seasonal fruit.
I’d posted about the delicious olive oil granola that I’ve made for years for my family’s breakfast and, as I was tucking into a bowl at Stroud market, my fellow traders persuaded me to sell it. Now it’s one of my most popular products.
It’s so popular I’ve added a couple of extra versions to the original recipe: an organic granola with the same ingredients but 100% organic, and a vegan granola where maple syrup is substituted for the honey plus a sprinkle of olive leaf powder as an additional health kick.
There have been some great reminders about the food we eat with books like Ultra Processed People. Most commercial cereals are packed with sugar and I’m not keen on dried fruit or lots of nuts, so I started making my own. The sweetness comes from the spices and honey or maple syrup – there’s no added sugar.
