Our dog Merry sniffed out a puppy that was curled up in a paper sack at the end of the road. Terrified, the puppy barked and shook but didn’t move from the spot all day and we suspected she’d been dumped. We agreed that we would watch her and we took her some food but she was so frightened we couldn’t get very close. After 36 hours we knew that if we didn’t take her in she would perish so, in the pouring rain, we took her and the very soggy sack and gave her a home. Now, 10 days later, she’s affectionate and a great addition to our family, and we’ve called her Ember.
